iowe is a receipt-splitting app. You scan a receipt, we pull out the line items, your group claims what they ordered. Here's what that means for your data.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in, we store your name and email address. That's what ties your receipts and sessions to you.

Receipt data. When you scan a receipt we store the image and everything extracted from it — merchant name, line items, prices, taxes, and totals.

Claim data. When a guest opens your link, we store the items they claimed and the name they entered. Nothing else.

Technical data.Error logs, request metadata, and app or browser version — the basics needed to keep the service running. We don't track you across the web.

How we use it

To run the service — authenticate you, process receipts, power claim sessions, and calculate splits. We don't sell your data and we don't use it for ads.

Who we share it with

Only the infrastructure providers we need to operate: cloud storage and processing, AI extraction, our database, and hosting. Each is under contract to use your data only for what we need.

Guests who open a claim link can see the receipt items. As the receipt owner, you can see what each guest claimed and the name they used. Nothing from a session is visible to anyone else.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your data. You can request deletion anytime from the account deletion page.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. Email privacy@iowe.appand we'll get back to you within 30 days.

EU and EEA users

GDPR applies to you. We process your data under two legal bases: contract performance for account and receipt data, and legitimate interests for technical data used to operate and secure the service.

Our infrastructure operates in the United States. When your data is transferred there, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Beyond the rights above, you can request data portability, object to processing, restrict processing while a dispute is open, and file a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Security

All data travels over TLS. Storage is access-controlled. We treat your data the way we'd want ours treated — but no system is perfectly secure.

Children

iowe is not for anyone under 13. If a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes

We'll update the date above when this policy changes. For anything significant, we'll reach out directly.
