iowe Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
iowe helps people split receipts by scanning a receipt, extracting line items, and creating a link where guests can claim what they had. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
We collect account information used to sign in, such as your email address, name, profile image, and authentication identifiers provided by our authentication provider.
When you use receipt scanning, we collect receipt images you upload, extracted receipt details such as merchant names, item names, prices, totals, taxes, and claim selections made by you or guests using a shared claim link.
We also collect basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as app version, request metadata, error logs, and device or browser information.
How We Use Information
We use this information to authenticate users, process receipt images, extract receipt details, create and manage claim sessions, calculate what each person owes, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and improve app reliability.
How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate iowe, including authentication, hosting, storage, database, receipt extraction, and infrastructure providers. These providers may include Clerk, Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, Railway, Cloudflare, and database hosting providers.
Guests who open a claim link can see receipt items needed to claim their portion. The receipt owner can see claimed items and the name a guest provides for that claim.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted transport, access controls, and provider-managed storage security. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Retention and Deletion
We keep account, receipt, and claim data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, troubleshoot issues, and meet legal or security obligations. You can request deletion of your account or associated data through our account and data deletion page.
Your Choices
You can choose not to upload receipts or share claim links. You can also request access, correction, or deletion of your data by contacting us or using our account and data deletion page. Some information may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backup integrity.
Children
iowe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and provide notice where appropriate.
